Vyvir, Beyond the lines

How Vyvir works

Question. Explain. Connect. Evidence. Understand.

Five steps, one purpose: a clear picture of what a learner genuinely understands.

The five steps

The shape of every session.

Question

A meaningful question is put to the learner, drawn from their own work and the criteria being assessed.

Explain

The learner explains the concept, the decision or the activity in their own words, out loud.

Connect

The learner shows how ideas relate to each other, rather than reciting them one at a time.

Evidence

The learner identifies, demonstrates or points to the evidence behind what they are claiming.

Understand

Vyvir assembles a structured picture of what was demonstrated and passes it to the educator.

The full journey

From set-up to retention.

01

Set up

An institution or an independent educator creates a workspace and organises learners into groups and cohorts.

02

Create the assessment

The educator sets the learning outcomes, criteria and topic boundaries, then configures the session rules, attempt limits and integrity settings.

03

Prepare the questions

Educator-written questions and generated questions are checked for relevance and criterion coverage. Anything a learner has already seen in Practice is kept out. Every approved question is traceable to its source.

04

The learner prepares

Practice Mode is available throughout, privately, and stays entirely separate from what happens next.

05

Readiness check

Before anything formal starts, Vyvir checks microphone, speakers, camera where required, connection and permissions. The clock does not start until the learner is ready.

06

The session

A short explanation from the learner, then structured questions, then follow-ups where an answer needs one. Conversational in tone, formal in structure.

07

Interruptions

If something fails, the session recovers, the learner reauthenticates and continues. Unresolved cases go to technical review rather than failure.

08

Review

The educator reviews the questions, the responses, the evidence and the session timeline, then records the outcome.

09

Moderation and retention

Moderators sample and check. Records are retained under the institution's own policy.

Two examples

Assessment beyond memorised definitions.

A database project

Why did you use CustomerID as the primary key? What problem could occur if it were not unique? Show where the relationship is implemented. How does that relationship affect data integrity? The educator ends up with evidence of conceptual knowledge, implementation knowledge, reasoning, evidence and application.

A software assignment

Explain what this function does. Why did you use a loop? What happens if the input is empty? Show how your application handles that.

Three rules we do not bend

The lines that never move.

01

Source work stays where it belongs.

Wherever it is feasible, the original submission remains in the learner's or the institution's environment.

02

Only what is needed crosses the line.

We take the minimum required to ask good questions, and no more.

03

Practice never becomes assessment intelligence.

What happens in Practice stays in Practice.

A clear picture of what a learner genuinely understands.
